Obviously there was no market on that day but that didn't stop the town from being filled with bargain hunters. Just out of shot to the right was a large queue of cold people in line to get there hands on a hot Gregg's pie!  In terms of the photo I am a big fan of symmetry and perspective and this has oodles of them both. I chose B&W as I felt it best represented the atmosphere that day.

I enjoy symmetrical compositions too. My eye is drawn to the object or is it a person slummped over the bars at the very back? The black and white really enhances the bleakness/emptiness.

My choice would be a cheese n'onion pastie any day!

The thumbnail of this one had me fooled! I thought I was looking down a lift shaft.....
This as you say has oodles of symmetry and it works well.

great move to go for a mono shot here, the distant figures draw the eye and are the icing on the cake.

  • Be sensitive, but make it clear what you think of a photograph and the response it generates.
