Another riverside shot, again in the fading evening light with no support, so pushing the limits at higher ISO. The B&W treatment was to disguise some of that extra noise into a grainy monochrome effect :-)

Analysed it closely on large, it looks fine to me Simon, out of interest what was the, ISO 1600 ? 3200?

I only have a happy snapper Canon "bridge" camera, but the grain is fierce at those levels.

This was shot and processed a few weeks ago and my memory must be playing tricks on me, I could have sworn this was shot at higher ISO and was grainier when I did the processing, but as you say it's not all that bad!
The settings were
zoom at 22mm
1/40
F3.5
ISO 640
I was forcing the shutter speed with shutter priority (to try and get something sharp hand held) so it was a little under exposed and needed a boost when I did the raw conversion perhaps that's why I thought the noise was going to be a problem

A slightly less technical comment Simon - great refelection which I really like because to me it looks like a giant Nut cracker - can anyone else see what I mean ?
