Scott there is a fascinating, but somewhat sinister feel about this image.
I can imagine all sorts of unpleasant reasons why they might be assembled. It reminds me of the images of the nuclear tests at Woomera, and also of Holocaust victims being herded.
It's certainly a compelling image.

A clear case for with holding information in the description about the bigger picture . . . and leaving viewers to complete the scene (and reaching their own views on what is represented) for themselves.

I have to agree with Alan, if I hadnt read the reason for all that amount of people all in rows, the dark dramatic image give it a realy sinster feel and with the light could almost be a wickerman esc reason for them being there, love it

This shot seems so much more sinister than it really was (having been there when it was taken!). I think if there had been any buildings or anything manmade in the background it wouldn't have seemed quite so 'scary' - as it is there is nothing to place it in 'reality' and the trees add to the spookiness!

Even the trees seem to be leaning in and holding their breath - amazing tension, great picture
