Arthur is a regular member of society. He goes to work. He pays his bills. He has never had a parking fine. The only thing about Arthur that is a little bit unusual is the fact that in the evenings he dresses up as a Pelican. If you like, Arthur is a part-time Pelican. Arthur likes pelicans and dreams that one day he might get to be a full-time Pelican. Being a part-time Pelican is quite lonely, you don’t meet many others, but that doesn’t stop Arthur. He wanders around at night, crossing roads, looking and hoping to meet other part-time Pelicans. I went to the spot where I heard I could catch a glimpse of the famous Arthur Trumpet but unfortunately he wasn’t there that night, maybe he finally found a fellow part-time Pelican?

:) Thanks all :)

I've just decided that sometimes its fun to make up little stories to support an otherwise dull concept. I went to Sainsbury's and as I left I saw this sign. I didn't read it as presumably intended and set about thinking how lonely someone would be if they were a Part-Time Pelican.

Don't mind me :)

You know him too Scottster. Arthur is my Uncle. He wouldn't have mentioned it.Arthur has always been a quiet fella, a quiet fella with a secret. I'm quite surprised he confided in you when he only told the family three months ago and you can imagine how well that went down.
I emailed him and wished him all the best also saying that everyone is different and if doing the Pelican thing is what makes him happy then we are in no position to criticise him. He and his Puffin mate are OK in my book as long as they dont go flashing anywhere me..Thats what I said Scottster and I know you would have said the same.

apart from all the jesting, to me as a snapper, I find it a very Clever shot, ok you have selective colour, but I love the way you managed to "make" the sign so bold and bright against what looks like a dark evening. I know I couldn't do it...

Slip me a fiver and i'll crawl somemore.......

It has a clever 3D effect, and I've learned something new too.
I've heard of Zebra crossings of course, but never Pelican crossings; and now I find there are also Puffin, Panda, Toucan, Hawk and Pegasus crossings as well. Who would have thought it?

"Puffin in my book" - what about the Penguin?

Scott, you're quite bonkers, but do like your stories and this is a very striking shot :-)

Thanks everyone - I was so focused on the story that I didn't really sit back and notice the 3D effect Karen is talking about :)

What is a hawk crossing!?!

Twiz the bold nature of the sign was done with multiple layers and the 'dulling' of the background :)
