Might be my monitor Mick but it looks a bit dark and therefore I cannot appreciate the detail on the seals, however I do like the shades in the background.

Have to agree with Catherine - when I tilt the monitor it reveals the detail and I think its a well composed image with lovely sharp detail. Might just need some levels work.

Lovely composition Mick, and such a beautiful subject.
I think the use of mono was a great choice here.
I'd never heard of Donna Nook until recently but it sounds like a good place to visit.
Any tips for the first time visitor? Is there a bad time to visit that I should avoid?

I`v made a slight adjustment to lift the detail on the dark side of the mother seal, on my monitor it looks fine now, thanks for the tips, Karen, the second half of November is the best time to see the seals and their pups, it`s a long walk out to the sand bank where they are, so it pays to find out what the tide times are, it needs to be low tide around 9.00-10.00am, and you would need to be out there at dawn to catch the best light as the sun rises.
