I suspect I understand why you chose to present in monochrome Scott (to give the 'cloth cap retrospective' more weighting?), but I reckon that the 'effect' might be even more powerfully achieved in full colour. It does not feature a couple . . . is not in exaggerated colour . . . is not in the face of the main character . . . . . . but nevertheless brings to mind Martin Parr's 'Bored Couples'.

When adding your comments to other peoples photographs:

  • Be sensitive, but make it clear what you think of a photograph and the response it generates.
  • Try to indicate whether the response being sought by the photographer had been achieved, and if not, outline the way/s in which it has not succeeded.
  • Make your response yours, trying to avoid reference to other comments already made on the photographs.
  • If there are examples of the points you wish to make amongst work in any of the members portfolios, then draw attention to it, to illustrate your point.
