Andonis had a workshop in the centre of the village of Chora, on the cycladic island of Amorgos, once. He mended and made shoes there, and also always had a fairly large number of villagers sitting on benches that lined his workshop - people who came for a chat, to exchange news or simply sit and listen. Andonis still makes shoes today, but his old workshop is no more.
